Accord announced today that Richard Price and Michael Clarke have joined the firm as Senior Advisors to help further develop the business and expand its growing portfolio of relationships within Asia-Pacific and EMEA, respectively.
Richard, who has over 25 years of real estate experience, was previously CEO of CBRE Global Investors Asia-Pacific where he was responsible for the leadership and management of the firm’s private equity real estate investment management business in the region. CBRE Global Investors (“CBRE”) is the fiduciary investment management business of the CBRE Group, Inc. with approximately $105 billion of assets under management. Whilst at CBRE, Richard was a member of the firm’s Global Executive Committee, Global Investment Committee and Global Leadership Team.
Prior to joining CBRE, Richard was CEO Asia of ING Real Estate Investment Management, a firm sold to CBRE in 2011 with $60 billion of funds under management at the time of sale. He has also held management positions at ING Clarion in New York and started his career at Brooke Hillier Parker in Hong Kong and Beijing. Richard is a Trustee, Foundation Governor and former member of the Global Board of Directors for the Urban Land Institute, as well as a former Board Member of AFIRE (Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate) and ANREV (Asian Association of Investors in Non-listed Real Estate Vehicles). Richard also serves as a Non-Executive Director of Chayora Holdings, a Hong Kong-based data center investment and operating business, and is an Advisory Board member of Juniper Square, a San Francisco-based proptech firm.
Michael comes with a wealth of experience, having worked within the real estate industry for over 30 years. Over approximately the last five years, Michael held the position of Senior Managing Director & Head of Investor Services EMEA at CBRE. Whilst at CBRE, Michael was also a member of the firm’s Global Leadership Team, as well as its European Executive Committee and European Operations Committee, responsible for setting and executing CBRE’s strategy in EMEA.
Prior to joining CBRE, Michael worked at Mesirow Financial, which, at the time, was the fifth-largest private investment manager of alternative assets globally. Michael held the position of Senior Managing Director, acting as co-portfolio manager for a global fund of funds programme focused on value-add and opportunistic real estate, alongside Accord’s Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Jeffrey Sobczynski. Previously, Michael worked with Schroders Investment Management (“Schroders”), a FTSE 100-listed investment management firm with over £200 billion in funds under management. Michael served as Global Head of Property Product, having founded Schroders’ multi-manager business in 1997. Since 2015, Michael has served as a Member of the Management Board of the European Indirect Real Estate Association (INREV).
